A tribute to Paul Hesselman, IPMA member, PE Awards Assessor and Team Leader

It is with great sadness that we write this announcement that Paul Hesselman has passed away unexpectedly.
We are sad, but grateful for everything he has meant to us and others in recent years.

Paul was a true Project Management professional. He had in-depth Project Management knowledge and experience but also vast experience as a Manager and as a Trainer/ Coach of Professionals. He was a good communicator and motivator. Paul was also an international speaker at congresses and seminars. As an expert, he was involved in publications on PMO and project management function profiles.

Paul has always made an outstanding contribution to the professionalization in the field of Project Management and to IPMA.
He was IPMA Level B certified and an IPMA assessor for both the certification of professionals and for the Project Excellence Awards. Within IPMA he was also the team leader for the improvement of the global certification system.
Paul has been active for more than 25 years as an IPMA Assessor, Board Member, Finance Committee Chairman, jury member, validator, IPMA Global Awards Assessor, Auditor and a Delegate. We will miss You, Paul.

We wish the family much strength with their loss.
Our deepest condolences to Paul’s family and friends.

I am sad to hear of the passing of Paul Hesselman, of IPMA Netherlands. He was a great leader, contributor, and friend, to all in IPMA and for the global practice of competent project and program management.

In my work in 2010-2014 with IPMA’s ExBo (Executive Board), Paul was incredibly helpful to me, and supportive in my Marketing and Events initiatives. In addition to that volunteer work, his contributions include innovations in advanced certifications, and Global Awards, together with his service as Delegate for IPMA Netherlands.

Paul was not only a great talent and friend, but a great advocate for IPMA, and all global practitioners, who seek the competence difference.

I met Paul the first time in 2012 at the Council of Delegates meeting in Valencia/Spain when I joined IPMA. During all these years, we appreciated his constructive way of dealing with critical matters in IPMA both as his role as auditor, leader of the auditor team and as an advisor. Paul was always trying to understand, being open to new ideas and propose solutions in his many contributions to IPMA.
His human qualities and his encouraging way of working with us were exemplary.
I will always remember his great sense of humour, professionalism and generosity.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Paul will always remain in our hearts.

It is with sadness that we have to accept that Paul Hesselman will no more bring his vividness and views to our IPMA family. We will remember Paul as a very involved and dedicated auditor of both IPMA Netherlands as well as IPMA international and as a fine person with whom it was a pleasure to work and enjoy our IPMA gatherings during and before and after our meetings..

Our condolences and thoughts for Paul’s family and people close to him.
