The Otto Zieglmeier Award was presented in recognition of major contribution to the development, promotion and support of Project Excellence through the IPMA International Project Excellence Awards. It was awarded for the first time at the IPMA World Congress in Rome in 2008 and celebrated for 9 year.

Grzegorz is a strategic and project management advisor, trainer and coach who brings international experience and passion for projects to many organizations worldwide. He is involved in the International PE Award since 2005 when he became an assessor, and later a Team Lead Assessor. In these roles he has assessed various large and mega projects in Asia, both Americas and Europe. As a leading author of the current assessors training program, Grzegorz became an official PE assessors trainer in 2009. He was also a member of the IPMA Awards Management Board (2011-2014) and a Leading Editor of the first edition of the IPMA Project Excellence Baseline (2014-2015). He has contributed to the development of national Project Excellence Awards in Poland and Nepal. His main expertise includes strategic projects portfolio management, project governance, deployment of agile methods and recovering control in troubled projects. He is also teaching strategy and project management in a number of MBA and postgraduate programs.

Mary Koutintcheva has more than fifteen years’ experience in the financial industry working for two of the largest Swiss banks – UBS and Credit Suisse as a program and project manager in Business and IT, implementing global solutions for Private and Investment Banking. She won the PE Award with her UBS IT team in 2003. Ever since, she has stayed with the PE Awards in a number of functions, including  jury member, jury chairman and award ambassador. For eight years in a row, she has steered the IPMA Award Management Board in the role of the Award Board chairman. Tirelessly, she has been active on stage and behind the scenes to keep the PE Awards alive and to promote them.

Mr. Frank Menter

Frank Menter holds a doctorate in engineering from RWTH Aachen/Germany. He has been involved in railway infrastructure projects for more than 20 years, as chief engineer, project manager and project director in rail power supply and automation & signaling projects for Siemens Transportation Systems. His projects took him to the United states, France, Thailand and Hungary, where he lived and worked several years each. In 2013, he assumed a post at Deutsche Bahn International, who are offering engineering and consultancy services to railways operators wordwide, in order to set up and lead a project management office. His team has been a Prize Winner the 2005 IPMA Project Excellence Award. Since then, he is serving the IPMA PE Award in various functions, as assessor, juror and jury chairman.

Mr. Brian Cracknell

Brian promotes the IPMA ideas in Asia for years, brings exceptional experience and passion for project management, has been a team lead assessor (TLA) for the IPMA Project Excellence Award since 2006. M.A, M.B.A., is Director of Language Works, a Malaysia-based company specialising in customising learning for organisations on topics such as Report Writing, Communication, Creativity and Innovation. He is a registered City & Guilds internal verifier and trainer for Teaching, Training and Assessing Learning. He has designed and delivered training programmes since 1983 in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Since 1996 he has led teams on training and development projects for Banking, IT, Telecommunications, Energy and Education sectors, and for government bodies.

Constanta-Nicoleta BODEA, PhD. Her involvement in the Award process started in 2006 when she contributed to the startup of the national Project Excellence Awards in Romania, under the supervision of Otto Zieglmeier. She became Award Assessor, after attending the Training-workshop for the Qualification of Assessors (Frankfurt, 2007) and she got involved, in the same year in the assessment of a mega project in Asia. Starting with 2008, she acts as IPMA PE jury member, bringing her experience and passion for project management. Her expertise includes project management competences development through education and training, project management knowledge management systems and project risks.

Mr. Thor Möller

Thor Möller studied Economics and Business Administration at University of Bremen. Afterwards he started as a junior scientist at the Institute for Project Management and Innovation (IPMI) and finished this by up-grating to PhD in Business Administration. At the following Thor Möller worked as the leader of department Business Administration at the German Association for Civil Construction, an institution with more than 65,000 company members. Then he started as a consultant and international project manager at a middle-sized consulting company. Since 2002 he is a freelance consultant. As a consultant Thor Möller was leading or working in international projects e.g. in Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, Albania, Namibia, Brazil. Next to his work as consultant he is still working as scientist and lecturer in project management all over the world. Additionality he was a Member of the Board of GPM German Project Management Association  and responsible for the German Project Excellence Award and project management consultants in Germany. He was also a member of the jury as well as trainer for assessors of the IPMA International Project Excellence Award, member of the IPMA Award Management Board and a jury member of Project Excellence Award in different countries.

Mrs. Mary McKinlay

Mary has worked in Project Management for almost 30 years as practitioner, researcher and trainer. Following a degree in Systems Engineering, she started her career  on the Tornado aircraft project and has subsequently have worked on many large programmes. A further dimension was added by participation in research programmes involving collaboration between industry and academics e.g. Alvey, SERC and ESPRIT. One of these projects was to generate a process model for Project Management. This underlined the need for Project Management improvement and influenced her later work. Having trained in the use of the Project Excellence Model, Mary has acted as an assessor for the IPMA Awards since 2004. She has also jointly delivered Training Workshops for the Awards. In year 2007-2012 she acted as the IPMA PE Award Jury member.She is a Governor of the University of Greenwich and also an active member of Institute of Directors.

Mr. Erik Mansson

Erik Månsson has 20 years of experience of projects in different context including the launch of the Euro and programme manager for the Single Euro Payments Area. He is a member of the Swedish and German project management associations. In 2009 he received the Otto Zieglmeier Award for his promotion of project excellence world-wide including active yearly participation in project assessment since the first Award 2002, trainer for PE at numerous occasions in Europe and China and member of the Award Management Board since 2007. Since 2009 he has been in the jury for the German PE Award.

Mr. Roberto Mori

Roberto Mori served as the President of the International Project Management Association (IPMA)  in years 2011-2012. Based in Milan, Italy, Roberto is also Director of Special Projects at Tenova (, one of the world’s leading companies for iron, steel, mining and material handling technologies. He has an extended background in Project Management on turn-key projects for industrial plants. His career has included several functions on project teams, up to the role of Senior Project Manager and Projects Director. He was a winner of the IPMA Project Excellence Award 2006, member of the Award Management Board (2007-2008), IPMA Vice President, Awards (2009-2010) and a successful award ambassador in Italy.

Mr. Otto Zieglmeier was the founder of IPMA International Project Excellence Award. He introduced also the Project Excellence Award on National Level in several countries.
